In Manhattan, the Tony Award-winning Savion Glover will introduce his new nine-member tap company, Ti Dii (pronounced like TIE-dye), at 8 p.m. Sunday in the center's Victoria Theater, the Guangdong Modern Dance Company, China's first modern dance ensemble, will perform works from its diverse repertory. tomorrow, the Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company, on its first United States tour in 14 years, will appear at Prudential Hall at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, celebrating indigenous Philippine culture as well as later Muslim and Hispanic influences.
On both sides of the Hudson, dance in its many forms is beckoning. Under the auspices of the Kosciuszko Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, the event features the Sinfonia Varsovia, a leading Polish orchestra, in an all-Polish program of music by Paderewski, Chopin, Moniuszko and Kilar.
